Many people know the State of Hawaii for its breathtaking islands. One of its islands that is much loved by water sports lovers is Maui. It is the second largest Hawaiian island. It plays host to some of the most spectacular flora and fauna worldwide in addition to being a top destination for paddle boarders. If you are planning to paddle board Maui, these are some of the top locations you should head to.

One location that is highly acclaimed for water sports is Makena Beach State Park. The park is located towards the southwest of the magnificent island. It has a lengthy beach that leaves one spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a spot to begin paddle boarding from. Another noteworthy aspect about it is the crystal clear water that allows one to easily see different marine creatures on the sea floor.

Two big lava outcrops lie within the water. Paddle boarders like to use them as landmarks just in case they lose track of where they are when riding the waves. The outcrops are also pretty good windbreakers.

Kapalau Bay should be on your travel diary too. It is well known for its extensive beach that is shielded from the elements. The area is well protected against strong winds, an added benefit for water sports enthusiasts. The waves tend to be gentle close to the shore and gain strength further into the sea. Inexperienced paddle boarders are always advised to hone their skills close to the shore before venturing into deeper waters.

Experienced riders often prefer heading to Napili Bay. It is located in the northwest section of Maui and is bordered by lush vegetation. The weather is always rainier and windier than it is in the other areas. This always adds to the fun for those looking for a challenge. It should be important to note that there are no shopping centers near this area. It is an area that is generally favored by those purely looking for tranquility.

Locals and tourists like to flock Kihei. It is a top spot for whale spotting. In addition to this, it has a famous marine sanctuary.

There are a plethora of incredible marine creatures in the sanctuary, the type that one only gets to spot once in a lifetime. Many scientists also like to visit the area for humpback whale research. When around, ride the gentle waves and get to see some spectacular reefs that also provide a refuge for lots of colorful fish that flock them to feed on plankton.

The one place you should visit for riding lessons is the Maliko Run. Over the years, it has been thought of as the best spot for water sports in the state. It is easy to understand why many people think of it as such, bearing in mind there is a permanent gentle wind that is ideal for paddling.

The area also has shallow waters and gentle waves throughout the year. These are excellent conditions for inexperienced and experienced paddlers alike. Skilled locals also give paddling lessons on site.
