The Various Teachings Of The Olive Grove Baptist Church

by Maria Mitchell

A church is a special place. It is more than just the building. It is the collective gathering of believers for the purpose of praise and worship. The first church was in Jerusalem, Israel. The first Christians managed to take the gospel far and wide. According to the Great Commission of Christianity, Christians should take the good gospel to all the four corners of the world. When Christianity reached Europe, Roman Catholicism started. Later, there was the Great Reformation that led to the Protestant Movement. The Olive Grove Baptist Church is part of the Protestant congregation.

It is accurate to conclude that America is a Christian nation. It is ranked among the countries in the world that have the highest number of Christians. Other nations on that list are Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, and the Philippines. A good percentage of American Christians are Baptists. Some of the founding fathers of America were also Baptists. America was formed on a strong Christian foundation.

The Baptist Church always teaches about morality. Actually, morality is a good thing. It makes the world to become a better place. It is hard to imagine an immoral society. Such a society will definitely be unlivable. An immoral society will not last for long. It will eventually crumble and it will totally be forgotten. That is the truth. It is actually the reality.

A true Christian will follow the moral path of life. He will think moral thoughts and all his actions will be moral in every sense and respect. Being moral in Christianity means fully abiding to the Ten Commandments. Of all the commandments that were given to human beings, there is no commandment that is greater than the commandment of love.

Churches usually teach people to avoid sin. Actually, sin is a very dangerous thing. Sin came to the world through two people. They are Adam and Eve. These people sinned when they allowed themselves to be deceived by the serpent to eat the fruit of the middle tree. Since them, human beings have continued committing unspeakable sins.

Luckily, there is the Christian teaching of baptism. This should be a relief to any sinner. The good news is that no matter the number of sins that a person has committed in his life, they will all be washed away by baptism and a person will become a new creature. Of course, there is always a second chance.

It is important to remember that this is the age of grace. In this age, there is grace for even a sinner who has committed the vilest sins. Such a sinner can be baptized and he will be forgiven of all sins and no account of sin will be held against him. However, the window of grace is quickly closing.

A true Baptist church is a Bible based congregation. Therefore, the Bible is at the heart of everything. Christianity should be all about the Bible and not any other book. There is simply no book that can replace or even complement the Bible. As a matter of fact, the Holy Bible is complete all by itself. It does not need any other supporting books.
