The siphon tipping bucket used as a rain gauge normally a small funnel that does the collection of the precipitation and does channel it to another container that looks like a seesaw. That finally means that the water that is collected whether it overflows or just enough, this mechanism ensures that all the water is delivered to the tipping buckets at the same rate.

In most areas where you use devices that are to be checked monthly, always make an effort to do the inspection every starting day of the month. These will help you get accurate readings of that month. Do not take the readings while some few days have passed on. Keeping time is very important in ensuring you get some accurate recordings.

You should be quite careful when you are setting up a new rain gauge because it will determine the kind of records you get. Place it on a leveled ground where shelter and no field falling apart as well as no wind that will affect. Also ensure there are no trees or some buildings that may affect the process negatively.
